Back for its second year this weekend sees Brighton tap takeover hit town; building on the success of last year’s event by offering up more pubs, more breweries & of course more beer. The 3 days will see 14 pubs host 14 breweries, with most breweries taking over all taps in the venue, pouring their core range as well as something a little different, special or new!
Both Laine Brew Co & Two Tribes have brewed beers especially for the weekend – the Laine “Dirty Weekend” promises a taste of Brighton in a glass with its brew of Brighton rock, salt and seaweed. Two Tribes have collaborated with Fermentation Radio to brew a New England IPA – very on trend and one I am particularly looking forward to trying after hearing of the huge quantity of hops that went into the brew!
The event has been put together by Laines Pub Company, who operate a number of pubs across Brighton and London, and beer distributor The Beer Collective – the collaboration will see them bring over 100 beers to Brighton for the thirsty seaside town to enjoy!
Alongside the drinking there are plenty of events to intrigue and entertain between sips – from East Street Tap’s Friday comedy night, to the “Beer School” from Original Gravity Magazine with tastings & talks across the weekend. Venues will be offering special drinks, food and music and if you find yourself looking beyond the pint glass, The Mesmerist will be mixing up some beer related cocktails!
Amongst the breweries in residence I’m most excited to check out Edge Brewing and Garden Brewery; Edge are from Barcelona, and having tried a couple of their excellent IPA’s I’m interested to taste more. Although Garden Brewery has a small selection, their Citrus IPA particularly caught my eye. Elsewhere on the list I’m looking forward to Fourpure’s offering and Fierce beer, who have been causing some waves recently – as well as some brews which will be new ones on me!
So, who are all these breweries and where will they be pouring you ask? Below is the line up, with each bringing a selection of beers; some cask, some keg and some both!
North Laine Brew House – Hub of the event & rotation of 20 beers from all the attending breweries.
The Bath Arms – The cask hub of the weekend, all the cask beers will be rotating throughout the weekend.

So, Where should you head first? If you can’t decide, the hub of The Laine Brew House has all the beers on in rotation, as well as offering the chance to can any beer from the tap with the guys from WeCan live in the pub!
