Brews News #2

October has been a good month for beer, what with one of the biggest beer festivals the UK has to offer, Indy Man which was a hoot (blog post to follow, hopefully!). Brewdog held #Collabfest2016, a showcase of collaboration beers from Brewdog Bars & local breweries, if you did not get to try any from the tap some, like Ten Dollar Snake from Siren are being released! Its almost November & below you can find some upcoming events, information & beer ramblings.

If you are looking for some Halloween inspired beer grab a can or two of Stingy Jack, its a spiced pumpkin ale (pictured above) from Beavertown. I’m no pumpkin beer kinda guy but its the best I’ve tried…

Lost + Found & Arundel Brewery takeover the taps.

One of Sussex’s newest breweries Lost + Found come together with one of Sussex’s most established beer makers Arundel Brewery to take over the taps at The Brunswick. Lost + Found are currently kegging and canning their beers which they have three of, American Pale Ale, Golden Pale Ale & their newest is a 6.2% IPA which is my favorite of the three – very fresh with a pine undertone – well worth a go, this will be on Keg tonight (28.10.16) at The Brunswick for the first time. Arundel will be brining along both cask and keg with their new Session IPA. Kicking off at 7pm with free entry – More details can be found here.

Brighton Beer Hunting

Rach from Look at Brew blog & Rebecca Pate who writes Brewing East are both going on a beer hunt & have an open invite for anyone who wants to bar crawl around Brighton in the aim of discovering quality beer.  Kicking off at 1pm Saturday (29th October) at the Evening Star which will always have you covered for cask or keg, interesting & some hard to find beers. It’s open to anyone & the only request is to bring your good vibes, go & catch that beer! Little more information can be found just here on Look at Brew.

Arundel is stocking up.

Recently you may recall I joined team Bison on a epic adventure Bison2Bristol & on this I met Stuart from Arundel Brewery & from this came an idea to help expand his Brewery shop offerings. I’ve been sourcing some mighty fine beers to go into his shop for the good local people to be able to purchase. This month, three beers will be in the shop tomorrow from Moor, Vibrant Forest & Brighton Bier along and next month, there’ll be more offerings! I’ll be hanging out at the shop from 2pm Saturday 29th October, drinking & talking beer come so why don’t you come say Hi!

Beers For Fears

Brad Bison & his team have got a Halloween treat in store, literally – an Imperial tasting night with some big beers which normally carry a hefty price tag and with the likes of Westbrook’s Mexican Cake & Moor’s Fusion 2015 (Vintage old Ale) it should keep everyone warm & toasty! On Thursday 3rd November there will be quizzes, games & prizes to be had as well as 10% off anything in store to take away at the end of the night. 15 of your finest pounds will get your name on the door & tasting some high strength beauties – More information & tickets right over here!

The beer community doing good

This past Sunday, Rick from The Watchmakers, Hove, took on the 44 Snowdogs with many others who joined in the 18mile run which ended in beer, of course. Not only did the running raise money but local support saw Brighton Bier donate cans & Darkstar a cask which were sold with all the proceeds going to the Martlets Hospice. The watchmakers & friends raised an awesome £1053 – Well done guys, great stuff!

Brews News Banging Brew – Northern Monk Double Heathen

I had this at Indy man & it was one of my favorites of the weekend, super easy drinking given it’s a double at 10%. Murky in colour with a tropical fruit caramel flavour, its got a touch of sweetness to it. Yet to have it again but it looks like its started to arrive in cans so I’ll certainly picking up one or two! Happy Halloween!
